Outreach

It is one of our utmost priorities to spread robotics and the benefits of the FIRST program to our community. In the 2022-2023 season, we spent over 2000 hours sharing our passion for robotics! Throughout the year, we hold booths, host robotics workshops and camps, present to various businesses, and much more. We split our outreach into four categories: community, technical, FIRST, and mentoring.

Community

It is our mission to spread FIRST and the benefits of STEAM to our community. We spark interest by hosting booths at baseball games, the Lane County Fair, the Lights of Liberty celebration, a teachers conference, the U of O girls STEAM camp, and our local race car track. In these booths we hold robotic demonstrations and advertise our upcoming events. To get the community connected to FIRST, we run workshops and summer camps. We bring in our community partners (such as 4H and South Eugene Robotics Team) to present to kids and parents who are interested in joining the FIRST family. We hold a zoom conference to encourage teachers and parents to consider stepping up to coach new teams with community partners. Through this process we have seeded 5 different teams in 3 years!

Food For Lane County

We are partnering with Food For Lane County to fight hunger in our community! Bring your non-perishable foods to any of our competitions to donate to the cause. If you want to give financially, you can make a contribution by clicking the button.

Technical

Technical outreach shows us how the skills we learn in FTC apply to real-world occupations. Throughout the year we reach out to numerous companies and give a presentation about our team and demo our robot. Often times we get to tour their facilities and learn how robotics is applied in a practical sense. This process is very beneficial to our team as it brings in mentors for our team and volunteers for our FIRST events.

FIRST

The majority of our outreach hours are poured into the FIRST community. We strongly believe in giving back to the organization that makes what we do possible: FIRST. We partner with Thurston Robotics to host our league tournaments as well as a FTC qualifying tournament. We also host a FLL qualifying tournament and volunteer at various FLL tournaments. Hosting and volunteering at tournaments has helped to develop and strengthen relationships with other FTC teams and given us the wonderful opportunity to act as mentors.

Mentoring

Mentoring allows us to partner with other teams an share our learning. We actively mentor 4 FTC teams and 2 FLL teams. If you are a team who wants to meet with us and discuss engineering, programming, or business concepts you can contact us by email or instagram.
