Fibonacci partners with Thurston
Robotics to host FIRST LEGO League
and FIRST Tech Challenge
Competitions for the southern
Willamette region.
Thurston Robotics was established in 2008 as
an all-boys after-school program. The
following year, a girls’ team was introduced.
Today, Thurston Robotics has four FIRST Tech
Challenge robotics teams. In addition to
building, programming, and competing with
their robot, team members engage in
outreach, public relations and marketing
activities to promote the team.
The program’s funding comes from sponsors,
fundraisers and a per-student shop fee, as it
is not financially supported by the school
district.
